In His Father’s Footsteps A Novel By Danielle Steel.

U.S. troops on the 8 of April 1945 received a shortwave transmitter message in Morse code in Russian and English, “To the Allies. To the army of General Patton. This is the Buchenwald concentration camp. SOS. We request help. They want to evacuate us.  The SS wants to destroy us.” They received a message three minutes later.  “KzBu. Hold out. Rushing to your aid.  Staff of Third Army.” Three days later they entered Buchenwald.

Jakob Stein came running out to the officers that came to rescue them and helped them since he could speak a number of different languages.  He was able to tell the women they were safe now.  When they reached the women’s barracks he ran looking for Emmanuelle. He ran into the barracks and after a long while came out carrying what looked like a child but the closer they came realized it a woman but barely as large as a child.

After a lot of discussion they choose to marry because their chances of going to the same place would be possible.  A ship took them to America and in particular to New York.  They were given a job in a factory, Jakob as a janitor and Emmanuelle as a seamstress.  They had been working in the factory for almost a year when Emmanuelle became pregnant.  She encouraged him to apply for a job at a diamond merchant as a delivery runner taking stones to other dealers and picking them up again.

This story goes on with Emmanuelle giving birth to a boy and Jakob got a job as a diamond runner.  If you want to see how this story ends you can purchase the book at Amazon and a list of book stores.  In His Father’s Footsteps A Novel By Danielle Steel.
