About The Book

The Man Behind Closed Doors  a Mystery by Maria Frankland  What could be so bad that a six-year-old stops talking?
Domestic violence isn’t only perpetrated by men. Ask Paul Jackson who is on remand, accused of stabbing his wife, Michelle. As he reveals his reality
behind their troubled marriage, it seems that only his six-year-old knows what really happened. But she’s trapped in her own world of silence.

My Thoughts

If a woman is found beaten at her home they will arrest the husband, but if you change the situation and put a man beaten by a woman, the police will not take the situation seriously and let the woman go free. Is it fair? Domestic violence is something that women and men can suffer at home, maybe it’s time that we remember it and start taking it seriously.
This is not the first book I’ve read from Maria Frankland, she loves to put the reader in conflictive positions and let their world crumble around them, and this book will not be different. I really can wait to read the next book, I am addicted to her stories!
Paul Jackson is awaiting trial for stabbing her wife, he swears he wasn’t home and that she stabbed herself is it true or he stabbed her due to the stress of their marriage? Because, let’s be honest, their life together was horrible full of jealousies, arguments and violence, so what really happened that fateful night? Is Paul innocent or guilty?
This story is told by Paul, how he is in prison awaiting for his trial while he remembers all his good and bad memories of his marriage with his wife Michelle. There are secondary characters on this story that will give different layers to the plot and make the reader understand how difficult is to know the real life behind closed doors. Because much more easy to lie about the problems in your life than telling the truth of what scares you most.

About The Author

Maria Frankland’s life began at 40 when she escaped an unhappy marriage and began making a living from her own writing and becoming a teacher of creative writing.

She recognises that the darkest places can exist within family relationships and this is reflected in the domestic thrillers she writes.
She is a ‘born ‘n’ bred’ Yorkshirewoman, a mother of two and has recently found her own ‘happy ever after’ after marrying again.
