Uncoupling by Lorraine Brown, Could one split second change her life forever?
Hannah and Si are in love and on the same track – that is, until their train divides on the way to a wedding. The next morning, Hannah wakes up in Paris and realises that her boyfriend (and her ticket) are 300 miles away in Amsterdam!
But then Hannah meets Léo on the station platform, and he’s everything Si isn’t. Spending the day with him in Paris forces Hannah to question how well she really knows herself – and whether, sometimes, you need to go in the wrong direction to find everything you’ve been looking for…
Have you ever felt that you wake up with bad luck? That things keep getting worse and worse no matter what you do?
Hannah and Si seem to be the perfect couple, they have planned a romantic trip in Italy, with its ending being Si sister’s wedding. But the last night in Italy fate makes them take different paths and the next morning they will awake in different parts of Italy. Will they meet before the wedding or fate will keep them separate forever?
This is a trip of self-discovery and landscaping through Italy, because now that traveling is becoming quite impossible, who doesn’t love visiting places with their imagination?
I’ll say from the beginning that I didn’t like much Si, too self-centered and bossy while Hannah seems to be in love with being in love. But this is how the story wants to be, to make Hannah realize that if you don’t have to change to be with the person you love, they have to like you the way you are!
I’ll admit that I read this book in just one sit, it was easy to fell in love with the story and the landscape; the characters and their lives. Reading this book made me realize about how easy is sometimes to ignore the internal doubts and alarms; because it’s easier to let things the way they are instead of trying to change them. Because change means instability, at least for a while, and no one likes the uncertain, we like easy and peaceful.
Uncoupling has been a very interesting trip, like a train full of emotions and adventures which kept me turning pages till the end. Ready for it?
